Sally's life advice
I should have this as a running list somewhere and then make it into a book. That's actually a brilliant idea, I'll do that next, I'll dedicate a notebook entirely to my opinions (pet peeves) on how to live life. Because what happens is I think of these things as I encounter various situations in life, i.e. the other day at the gym when I had a thought and then was called out for "being on my phone" and dilly-dallying during my workout. Well! I will have you know, gym friend who is rather interested in my workouts, I was not texting, I was taking notes for my future book, to which you may or may not benefit from the profit! For now, here are for tips on how to live life, according to Sally:
- Tip well, if you can't, don't go out.
- Never walk over freshly mopped or swept floors, if you can avoid it (walk around or wait a couple minutes), especially if the person cleaning is still cleaning or standing right there.
- Always say thank you.
- Never have attitude with the waiter. Even if they have attitude, it is counter productive to lose your cool and rudeness is never necessary.
- When speaking to children, which you ought to do every chance you get, get down to their level so they feel like you're one of them.
- End phone calls with I love you.
- Never go to bed angry.
- Always talk to someone you love before taking off on a flight.
- Kiss in the rain.
- Say good morning.
- Reciprocate questions.
- Bake cookies for the people at the bank. And the bar you like.
- Offer the plumber, electrician, gardener, etc. a beverage.
- Have a nice conversation before "getting to business" at a work meeting.
- Stop for pedestrians.
- Offer to carry the older gentleman or lady's bag at the airport.
- Hug with purpose.
- Drink lots of water.
- And tea.
- Smile at strangers.
- Buy the person in line behind you's coffee every once in while.
- Invest in a rocking chair. And use it.
- Clean out your cabinets periodically.
